Are you or your kid having trouble with the times table? Mahno Harkness has developed this quite simple but very useful math learning software called Multiplication 101. It consists of a series of drill exercises that will help you learn or practice times tables.
The exercises include not only 0-to-10 multiplication drills but also more complex operations, like 12 times 7. The software will evaluate your response instantly and provide you with correcting feedback. This may sound like a rather dull application, but what is exciting about it is that it is capable of keeping track of your difficulties. Thus, the software makes use of this capability to focus the questions on your problem areas. If you have trouble with math operations that involve, let's say, multiplying by 11, the program will keep asking the type of questions that will help you overcome this issue.
The interface is so simple that it is a child proof. Most of the space is devoted to displaying the exercise. It only has two buttons. The first button starts or resumes the exercise and the second will show the results so far. The results are grouped by table or by question.
A line at the bottom displays your score of correct and incorrect answers.
In my opinion, this software should enable the user to select a level of difficulty, this way it could be useful for learners of all ages.
